Viridian Green Laser

May I please have your thoughts on the Viridian green laser? I'm thinking of getting one.

TIA!

Viridians are nice but way overpriced. Picked up a Barska at a gunshow for $100 even. At the range I go to people around me scoff at my Draco with a forward grip. Their jaws drop when I put 20 out if 20 into a 3" red dot from the hip at 75m.

FYI, you may want to reconsider a red laser, especially if you plan on night use. In low light or darkness the beam from a green laser is much more visible along the line of sight than a red - especially from the target's point of view.

Red tends to go away in daylight, unless it is at least 5mw or so...

Please extrapolate. Are you saying a laser is much more a liability than benefit, and a green one, the worst so?

I've thought about this, and am trying to decide based on available information and opinion. A tactical light is also a "target" but I also realize one can do the old "high FBI" tactic which would mean the light is held over one's head off to the side.

What about a laser just for training purposes?

I have been really looking at this lasermax unit for my ar.

Looks pretty good, all the cheaper ones are really large and add a lot of weight.

Current US law prohibits sale of any laser to an unlicensed operator of > 5mW.

Not sure what that has to do with the discussion.

Greater than 5mw your gonna have to carry a battery back with you. The standard green lasers take enough as it is.

Edit> reread and saw this earlier in thread:

And yes it does. Green is much more visible.

If your primary use is low light, red is fine.

Day use, green is better.

Reminds me a of story...

What happens when you:

Have a >5mw green laser
Office on 52 floor of office building
White police car on street?

Oh, the greens REALLY light up the reflective stripes on the street.

The Glock Tact lite with dimmer is just fine.

The Range on it is extremely impressive ( well past 200 yard at night)
